The Sun Rises

The Sun Rises is a new project I just embarked upon. As I drive over the mountain every morning I am witness to the most spectacular sunrises. The same mountain range yet every sunrise has its own unique beauty and characteristics.

I have decided to capture the uniqueness and beauty of these sunrises for 22 days. Stay tuned for updates and images of the amazing sunrises that God creates for us.

Day 1

Only a brief sighting of the sun this morning as it rose under the cover of the clouds, creating a
beautiful pink skyline.

Briefly catching glimpses of brightness when the clouds parted.

A beautiful and peaceful
sunrise today!

Day 2

A very cloudy and rainy morning, the skyline told a story of a
brewing storm.

As I decided to continue down the mountain, the sun rays peaked  through the thick clouds.

Day 3

Picture

A spectacular sunrise indeed!

As I topped the mountain, I was thrilled with the view!

So bright and colorful, I love how the sun lights up the clouds!

Day 4

Picture
Rising inbetween a small gap in the clouds, this mornings sunrise was only visible momentarily.

The sun's movement through the clouds lasted only a minute and made for a galactic skyline.

Day 5

Picture
A majestic scene!

I was a couple minutes late for the sunrise this morning, however, I stumbled upon a magnificent view.

The sun was higher in the sky and the clouds hung low in the valley. Sun light reflected off the low lying clouds creating a stunning scene.

Day 6

Picture

A Beautiful Clear Sky.

A very vibrant sunrise with an array of colors.

Day 7

Picture

A beautiful display of color as the sun peaked over the mountains.

Day 8

Picture
Rain, Rain, Go Away, Come Again Another Day!

Even in the rain, the mountains are beautiful!

Day 9

Picture
A lovely serene sun rise this morning.

The sun's color reflected in the clouds.  Purples, pinks, blues, yellows, and oranges lit up the skyline for another magnificent site.

Day 10

Picture
The sky and the valley were decorated with clouds this morning.

Before the sun appeared, the clouds were lit in varying colors.

A very stunning scene.

Day 11

Picture

The clouds made for a lovely sunrise this morning.

With soft hues and light bouncing through the sky, it was a very peaceful morning.

Day 12

More Awesome  Clouds!

I love the bird taking a morning flight!

Day 13

Picture

The sun rose behind the clouds which made for a dynamic morning!

Day 14

Picture
I stopped on the side of the road before heading over the mountain when I saw this beautiful scene.

I then continued over the mountain, where the sun rose in a thick cloud cover.

Day 15

Picture

Another beautiful sunrise!

Day 16

A cloudy morning, beautifully decorated with a touch of pink to remind me that the sun rises even if you can't see it!

Day 17

Another Gorgeous Morning on the Blue Ridge!

Day 18

Picture

A clear morning with only a few clouds.

The moon is leaving as the sun is appearing for another beautiful day!

Day 19

Picture
I love how the cloud appears to be spiraling upward through the sky.

A shout-out to Bob Ross with my happy little tree!

Day 20

Picture
A very cool and cloudy morning. Any visual of the sun was blocked by spectacular low lying clouds. Only the tops of the mountain ranges were visible, making me feel like I was looking upon Mount Everest!

Day 21

Picture
The sun rose and sprayed its rays upward through the clouds while peaking through a small hole.

The sun sat at the top of the clouds in a spot that was made perfectly for it.

Day 22

The final day of this project!

As I watch the sunrise this morning, I am grateful for the opportunity to have witnessed all these beautiful and unique sunrises. No two were the same, each evoked a different feeling, some were peaceful, some were joyous and some were energizing!

Some shone through crystal clear skies, some danced through the clouds and some were not visible through the thick fog. Although, even when not seen, the sun always rose!

Something they all had in common~  they all made me slow down and really enjoy the moment. I took a few moments every morning to relax, witness a beautiful site created by God and appreciate being alive.

When I started this blog, the sun rose at 6:30, this morning the sun rose at 5:49, as much as I have enjoyed this project, I will also be happy when I can sleep in a few extra minutes tomorrow.
I plan on a second sunrise project again in the fall when the sun's position is more to the south.

Thank you for taking a moment to look at all these sunrises. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed watching them!

Something to remember ~ the sun will rise whether you see it or not and you have another day to live your life. How you live your life is  your choice!  What will you make of this new day you have been given? What will you choose to be today?
